Another rumor that I heard recently was built on a misunderstanding of something Pastor Davis said in the last Camp Meeting. He was discussing some of his vision for the campus in Graham, and said something close to this: “...we’re building a house for the Pastor.....” This was misunderstood and relayed that the church was building me a house; in reality Pastor was referring to a house being built as a residence for the Pastor of the Graham church; Pastor Kinson lives there, but the house is owned by the Seminary and church. The church has never built me a house!
Since we are talking about Real estate, let me bring up another rumor that sprang from a misunderstanding and lack of real information. This one concerns 39 undeveloped acres on Orting-Kapowsin Hwy. Pastor Davis purchased this land years ago with his own funds; it was deeded in the church’s name because he was unsure of what the land was to be needed/used for; thinking that perhaps the campus would be extended. When it became clear that the School/Church had no real use for the land, and desiring to protect the rights to it, he put it in our name (mine and my wife’s, who happens to be his only daughter.) To the pure all things are pure; and he never thought that transferring land bought with his own money to his daughter would be any kind of issue; well you all know the rest of the story...... He has publicly apologized for the misunderstanding and the appearance of impropriety. He has paid all of the taxes on this land with his own funds since it was purchased; we, as the recipients of a “gift” owe no taxes on it. (It was a paper transfer anyway, as we’ve had nothing to do with, or say about the property.)
Rev. Olson was party to this transaction and wrote a letter explaining the details; Pastor also called a special meeting to explain the hows and whys of his actions; now, I’ve had my say and maybe we can put this misunderstanding to bed once and for all.
